On the edge of the city, and easy to reach

Keresley is one of those places that is harder to describe than it is to get to. Part of it sits inside Coventry, part of it — Keresley End and Keresley Green — sits over the boundary in Warwickshire, and the whole area has the feel of a village that the city grew up to meet rather than a suburb proper.

For a lot of services that boundary is a nuisance. Businesses cover one side and not the other, or treat anything past the city line as a special trip. We do not. Keresley is a short run north for us and we cover the whole of it, CV6 and CV7 alike.

Daryl and Kieran have over 30 years in the trade between them with main dealer training behind them. More about us here.

What we do in Keresley

Village lanes, colliery housing and new estates

Keresley grew around Coventry Colliery, and the housing still reflects that history alongside everything built since. It makes for an unusually varied patch to work in.

The older village and former colliery housing tends to sit on narrower lanes with limited turning space. Access is usually fine but we appreciate knowing in advance if the approach is tight, particularly where a lane has no passing places. Most properties have somewhere to pull off, which is what matters.

The interwar and postwar housing towards the Coundon and Holbrooks side generally has driveways and side access, which makes it among the easier work we do.

The newer estates built on the edges of Keresley in recent years usually have allocated bays or short driveways. Workable in almost all cases, though bay-only parking is worth flagging on the phone so we know whether there is room to get around the vehicle.

The semi-rural properties out towards Keresley End often have the most space of anywhere we work — long drives, room to spare, and no parking pressure at all. If that is you, almost anything we offer can be done at home comfortably.

Being on the boundary cuts both ways

One practical note. Keresley sits close to the A444 and M6 junction 3, and a fair share of our callouts in this direction are not at anyone's house — they are drivers who have stopped on the way in or out of the city.

If that is you, get the vehicle somewhere safe first, and if you are on a live carriageway call the police or highways before anything else. Once you are somewhere it is safe for us to work, call us and we will come out. More on how that works on our emergency mechanic page.

What it costs

There is no callout charge and no premium for being over the city boundary. When the job is known — clutch, brakes, alternator — you get a single quote covering parts, labour and the visit, and that is the figure.

When it is a fault that needs tracking down, the diagnostic work is charged on its own, because finding the problem properly is the work. Either way the cost is agreed up front and nothing is added without asking you first.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Keresley End and Keresley Green as well as Keresley?

Yes, all of it. Part of Keresley sits inside Coventry in CV6 and part sits over the boundary in Warwickshire in CV7, and we cover both. The city line makes no difference to us or to what we charge - it is a short run north either way.

I am just outside the Coventry boundary. Do you charge more?

No. There is no separate callout charge and Keresley is not priced differently to anywhere else we cover. If you know what the job is, we quote one price covering parts, labour and coming out to you. If the fault needs diagnosing first, there is a charge for the diagnostic work itself.

I live down a narrow lane. Is access a problem?

Rarely, but it helps to know in advance. If the approach is tight or the lane has no passing places, mention it when you book so we can plan the visit. What matters more is whether there is somewhere at the property to pull off and work safely around the vehicle, which most Keresley properties have.

I have a long driveway and plenty of space. Does that help?

It makes life easy for everyone. Plenty of space around the vehicle means we can work comfortably and safely, and there is very little we offer that cannot be done at a property like that - servicing, brakes, clutches, suspension, batteries, alternators and full diagnostics included.

My car will not start and I cannot get it to a garage. Can you come out?

That is one of our most common callouts. A non-starting vehicle is exactly the situation mobile is built for, because the alternative is paying for recovery before any work has even begun. Call us with the registration and a description of what happens when you turn the key, and we will bring the likely parts with us.

How quickly can you get to me in Keresley?

Keresley is a short run north for us, so how quickly we reach you depends far more on how booked up the day already is than on the distance or which side of the boundary you are on. For anything urgent, call rather than message and have your postcode, registration and a description of the fault ready.

Another garage replaced a part and the fault is still there. Can you help?

It happens more than it should. The usual cause is that a fault code was read and the part named in it was replaced, when the code was only ever pointing at the circuit rather than the culprit. Rather than guess again, we put an oscilloscope on the component and look at the signal it is actually producing - which shows whether that part has genuinely failed or whether it is faithfully reporting a problem further up the line. Tell us what has already been changed and we will start from there.

Do you carry out MOTs?

No. MOT testing is restricted by law to DVSA-approved test centres and we are fully mobile, so it is not something we can offer on either side of the boundary. We do carry out thorough pre-test checks — Kieran was a licensed MOT tester for over 13 years, so he will tell you straight what is going to fail before you pay to find out.
